A Peek Inside My Loomis Maternity and Newborn Photography Studio
One of the questions I hear all the time is, “What do I need to bring?”
My honest answer? Not much at all.
If you arrive at my Loomis photography studio with your baby, a pacifier if they use one, and any special sentimental item you’d like photographed, you’re all set. Seriously. You don’t need to spend the week before your session shopping for outfits, ordering newborn props, or packing half of your house into the car.
I know getting everyone dressed, fed, and out the door with a new baby is already a whole event. My goal is to make everything after that feel as easy and calm as possible.

Everything for Your Baby Is Already Here
My newborn photography studio is filled with beautiful pieces for your baby. I have newborn wraps in a variety of soft colors and textures, tiny outfits, headbands, bonnets, floral tiebacks, blankets, baskets, beds, and the sweetest little animal stuffies.
We’ll choose pieces that work with your personal style and the colors you love. Some families are drawn to soft neutrals and very simple setups. Others love florals, deeper colors, or a little more texture. We can create a session that feels like you while still keeping the focus exactly where it belongs—on your sweet baby.
You don’t need to arrive knowing exactly what you want, either. That’s part of what I’m here for. I’ll help pull everything together so the colors, wraps, props, and backdrops flow beautifully from one setup to the next.

Yes, You Can Wear One of My Dresses
You absolutely do not need to buy a new dress just for your session.
Moms have full access to my motherhood wardrobe, which includes more than 150 dresses in different colors, sizes, fabrics, and styles. Before your session, we can find something that photographs beautifully and helps you feel comfortable and confident.
These dresses can be used for maternity sessions, newborn family portraits, and motherhood sessions. I know the early postpartum stage can make getting dressed feel a little overwhelming. You’ve just had a baby, your body is still changing, and the last thing you need is pressure to find the “perfect” outfit.
That’s why the wardrobe is here.
I also have dresses available for toddlers and young girls, along with floral crowns and floral tiebacks. If your baby has an older sister joining the session, there’s a very good chance we can style her right here too.
Dads and brothers usually do wonderfully in simple neutral pieces they already own. Once your session is booked, I’ll help you coordinate everyone so the final gallery feels connected without looking overly matched.
A Calm Space for the Whole Family
My studio is located in Loomis, California, and was created specifically with maternity, newborn, baby, and motherhood sessions in mind.
There are multiple spaces and looks available, from simple and classic backdrops to soft floral setups and a relaxed lifestyle area. That allows us to create variety in your gallery without packing everyone into the car and traveling between locations.
For older babies and milestone sessions, we can also use the studio’s arches, playful setups, and bubble bath area. Each part of the studio gives us a slightly different feeling while still keeping your gallery cohesive.
Most importantly, the studio is meant to feel calm.
Newborn sessions are never rushed. There’s time to feed your baby, change them, cuddle them, and take breaks whenever they need one. Babies are not expected to arrive asleep or follow a perfect schedule. We follow their cues and work at their pace.
There are snacks and water available for families, and you’re always welcome to sit back and relax while we work with your baby. Many parents tell me they were surprised by how easy the session felt—and that is one of my favorite compliments.

Siblings Are Welcome Too
Older siblings are absolutely welcome during newborn sessions.
As a mom, I know toddlers and young children aren’t meant to sit quietly in a photography studio for hours. We plan their portion of the session carefully, give them time to warm up, and keep things as playful and pressure-free as possible.
There’s also a park nearby where one parent can take the kids when their part of the session is finished. A bakery and Starbucks are close too, which can be very helpful when someone needs a snack—or when tired parents need a little extra caffeine.
Sibling photographs are about connection, not perfect behavior. Sometimes the sweetest images happen when we let children be themselves.
Your Baby’s Comfort and Safety Come First
Beautiful photographs are important, but your baby’s comfort and safety will always come first.
My assistant Jen and I have more than 20 years of combined newborn experience. Every pose is approached carefully, and sessions remain baby-led. If your baby doesn’t like a particular position, we move on. We never force a pose just because it was part of the original plan.
Some of the more advanced newborn portraits you see are created as composites, meaning multiple photographs are safely combined during editing. A baby is always supported when a pose requires it.
You can relax knowing your baby is being carefully watched, supported, and cuddled throughout the entire experience.

Serving Families Throughout Sacramento and Placer County
Although my studio is in Loomis, families come to me from throughout Sacramento and Placer County, including Roseville, Rocklin, Granite Bay, Lincoln, Auburn, Folsom, El Dorado Hills, and the surrounding areas.
Having everything available in one place makes the drive much easier. You aren’t hauling props, dresses, blankets, and multiple bags into your appointment. You simply arrive, settle in, and let me take care of the rest.
What Should You Bring to Your Newborn Session?
Your list can be wonderfully short:
- Your baby
- A pacifier, if your baby uses one
- Extra milk or feeding supplies you normally need
- Any sentimental item you would love included
- A simple outfit for Dad or siblings if they aren’t using studio wardrobe pieces
That’s it. The wraps, props, newborn accessories, motherhood dresses, toddler dresses, floral pieces, snacks, water, and plenty of baby snuggles are already waiting for you.
Ready to Plan Your Session?
My studio was created so you don’t have to worry about all the little details. You can come in, take a breath, and trust that we’ll create something beautiful together.
If you’re expecting, I recommend reaching out around your 20-week appointment so we can reserve space around your due date. I only accept a limited number of newborns each month because babies arrive on their own schedule and session dates often need to be adjusted.
I would love to welcome your family into my Loomis studio and make this part of your motherhood story feel easy, calm, and truly special.
